About this site
About Studio Synth Guide
Studio Synth Guide is an independent English reference for musicians, engineers and producers who meet vintage synthesizers, electric keyboards and drum machines on a session and want to know how each one works and what it needs.
Where the facts come from
- The English Wikipedia articles on each instrument and maker, and on synthesis methods, CV/gate and MIDI, read in October 2026; where an article cites a manual, a magazine review or a maker's history, we follow the citation.
- Makers' published specifications and manuals where they are available online.
- Dates are the year an instrument was introduced or first shipped; where sources disagree, we give the range or leave the detail out.
Prices, production numbers and dates are given as published at the time and are not adjusted for inflation. Every page shows when it was last checked. Corrections are welcome and are made as soon as a better source is found.
Independence and advertising
Studio Synth Guide does not rent, sell, repair or appraise instruments and takes no bookings. It has no connection with any manufacturer, shop, studio or rental company, and makers' names and model names are used only to identify their instruments. The drawings on the site are our own and do not show any real product. The site is paid for by display advertising, which is always labelled.
The history of this domain
Until 2025 sstsynths.com was the website of a synthesizer and keyboard rental business in the Los Angeles area. After the domain lapsed it showed a parking page. Studio Synth Guide is a new, unrelated project: it cannot take rental enquiries or answer questions about that business, and links that once pointed to its pages now lead to this guide.
Studio Synth Guide is an independent reference. It does not rent, sell or repair instruments, has no connection with any manufacturer or rental company named on its pages, and has no connection with any earlier owner of this domain. Product names belong to their owners.
